Rihanna named national heroine of the Republic of Barbados

33-year-old Rihanna was named the national heroine of Barbados - her home state. The singer took part in the inauguration ceremony of the country's President Sandra Mason.

After Barbados was officially declared a republic and seceded from the rule of Great Britain, Prime Minister Mia Mottley declared the singer a national heroine. Thus, RiRi became the second woman in the history of Barbados to be awarded this title (the first was a religious leader during the era of slavery, Sara Ann Gill).

Note that at the ceremony, Rihanna appeared in a long orange satin dress that emphasized her figure. The artist also wore brown heeled sandals. The star braided her hair into a hairstyle with pigtails, and on her face she made a light make-up in brown shades. She wore a black face shield, earrings and a bracelet as accessories.

Rihanna was born in 1988 in Barbados. But at the age of 16 she moved to live in the USA, where she began her creative career.

The artist is a laureate of nine Grammy awards and one of the most popular artists in the world. It is worth adding that the star is the youngest singer in the history of Billboard, who managed to topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart 14 times.

In 2018, Rihanna became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Barbados to the United States. Now she is the 11th national hero of the island.
